Worldwide Pinhole Day (updated)

Sunday, April 30th is Worldwide Pinhole Day. I love pinhole images, and will be participating for the first time this year with my modified holga and perhaps a very old school coffee can. Want to join the fun?? Shoot a pinhole pic on that day, get it developed and scanned. Then submit it at pinholeday.org. Of course, you don't have to share it on the site if you don't want to.

This might be fun event to do with others. Anyone want to have a SF pinhole party?? It would be nice to have some more get togethers in the coming months. I know I am lame and haven't made any of the past ones, but will try if anyone comes up with a good time for us all to get together.

update

We are going to be meeting at noon on Sunday, April 30th at Crossroads Cafe. For more details and some cool links to pinhole mods, please see this post at flickr. Hope to see you all there!!

An SF pinhole meet up would be fun. We can even have it be crafty and people can build their own pinhole if they don't already have one.

Sounds cool. Anyone willing to show me how to turn my digital slr body into a pinhole camera?

Count me in.

JM, the easiest way to turn your digital SLR into a pinhole is to take a body cap, drill a big hole in it, and then put a piece of brass shim with the pinhole over the drilled out hole.

thanks for the interest guys. now that some of you are game, what would be a good time and place to meet on that sunday?? any ideas. i am totally open to suggestions. probably a place in sf where we could meet up for coffee (or whatever) first to get to know one another, and then stroll would be ideal. i love the idea of making pinhole cams together too!! once we get a definite plan then i'll post it elsewhere to invite anyone who wants to come.

Here's a link to instructions for making a pinhole 'lens' for your slr - http://www.camerahacker.com/EOS_Pin-Hole_Lens/index.shtml

As for locations, somewhere 'classic' where you can take advantage of the pinhole's massive DOF and old fashioned softness - how about starting somewhere near the Bay Bridge. Walking a little south from there is a marina with plenty of boats, the baseball stadium. There's also the swinging bridge around there that would make a good subject. A little further south is more industrial with some interesting surviving dockland buildings and some modern commercial and academic spaces.

Just one idea - others, the Presidio (old and new buildings, civil and military, woods, cemetery etc.) or grave yards in Colma might make good pinhole subjects.

I haven't used a pinhole in more than a decade - does anyone with more recent experience have ideas for locations?

Martin -- thanks for that link, now i need to go find me an extra body cap. i remember building a pinhole camera out of an instamatic cartridge when i was a kid. i haven't tried this since. it should be fun!

and Valerie -- thanks for organizing! i'm in, i've put it in my calendar.

martin thanks for the suggestions. i love the bay bridge to industrial land idea. any good places to meet first around there for coffee? i'm thinking that meeting around noon might be good. lots of light that way for the pinholes.

of course this is still open to other suggestions if anyone has any!

pete--yay! can't wait to see you there. :-)

Hi

Even Black Hat Marketers have a code,
(although most of it is how to make Google cry and put your competition in the poor house)
you can download it here for free ... (27 page underground PDF)

http://blackhat.1add.net

And don't worry, you can keep your wallet in your pants AND you don't even have to opt in.

Consider it a gift from my friend Howie Schwartz.
It's a blueprint on how he annihilates everything in his path when he decides to enter a niche.

Better grab this now, because he said he's only going to allow 100
marketers who aren't afraid of their own shadows to have it.

Take care,
Jhon

PS After you read the PDF - make sure you check out the below as the live training is starting . . .
